Chrissy Teigen Credits Husband John Legend for Helping Her Through Postpartum Depression

As a mother-of-two, Chrissy Teigen has been quite open about her experience with postpartum depression, and she is now crediting her husband, John Legend, for helping her through this tough period in her life.

“John and my doctors were my strength,” the 33-year-old said while on Today on Thursday, April 2. “I had such a good group of people that were around and people were really watchful of me. I had really changed. It wasn’t just being tired, it was being really sad and hard on yourself and down on yourself. It wasn’t just the blues and a lot of us think it is the baby blues you are going through different things of course.”

“Speaking to the women made me realize just what a different feeling it is — it’s a unique experience that can be really tough. We encourage everyone to share their stories. Open up the dialogue so there is no stigma,” she continued.

The model also revealed she didn’t exactly know she was going through postpartum when she first encountered it. “It happened with my first one, with [my daughter] Luna. I just didn’t know there was any other way to feel. I thought it was natural to be in this low point,” the Lip Sync cohost recalled.

“I just assumed that was motherhood and no other way around it. Until people around me starting telling me they saw distinct changes in my personality that was really helpful to me. I wish I had this center where I was. It blows your mind that this center isn’t everywhere really.”

Aside from her 3-year-old daughter, the former Sports Illustrated cover girl also shares an 11-month-old son named Miles with her hubby, 40. Chrissy reveals that things went a lot better when she gave birth a second time, but added, “Okay if it does happen, I understand it now. Even in the future with any other babies that come along I will know.”

It may be some time before the pair have baby number three, as Chrissy recently said that another child is “not in the cards right now.” “I feel like I’d miss out on Miles,” she told People. “Luna was a great age because she was growing up, she was speaking, and we knew that another baby could fit into the mix.”

“And then Miles is just so little, I don’t want to miss out on any of his moments,” she explained. “So I definitely want another child but definitely not now. I think we’re gonna space this one a little longer than the two of them.”
