Chrissy Teigen Admits Learning To Be Happy With Her Post-Baby Body Is ‘A Bit Of A Journey’

She has two beautiful kids, a loving husband, and a successful career but even Chrissy Teigen deals with insecurities, especially when it comes to body confidence. The Lip Sync Battle host, 33, recently opened up to Good Housekeeping for the magazine’s February cover story about how she’s still learning to be comfortable in her own skin after giving birth her two children, 2-year-old Luna and 8-month-old Miles.

“I think, in a way, we’ve forgotten what a regular body looks like,” Chrissy said of the pressures surrounding body image in Hollywood. “There are people out there who are struggling, and I’m struggling, and it’s okay to come to terms with realizing it’s going to be a bit of a journey.”

“I’m not blind. I see my body, I see the difference in shape, I see that I gained weight,” Chrissy said about her post-baby figure. But the proud mama ultimately knows the changes her body experienced during her pregnancies was all worth it in the end. “I also see with those same eyes that I have a beautiful baby boy and an amazing little girl, and I am very happy,” she shared.

The wife of Grammy award-winning star John Legend even revealed that she always tries to build herself up during times when she’s feeling down. “This is a new thing that I can change within my mind, that I don’t have to be swimsuit model anymore,” Chrissy — who previously made her modeling debut in the 2010 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue — said. “I get to be a mommy, cook, and meet incredible people. I’m happy to be going through this transition.”

And being a mama to two adorable babies lights up Chrissy’s world. “Luna’s bringing out so much of my personality that I was too anxious to share in the outside world before. Now, I get to be goofy and silly,” she shared. However, the period of time following Luna’s birth in 2016 wasn’t the easiest for Chrissy as she suffered from postpartum depression. “It was physically hard to get up,” she said of that time. “My bones hurt.”

Things began to turn around for the former Deal or No Deal model when she started craving some of her favorite meals again. “One of the ways I knew I was healing was that I found my way back into the kitchen,” Chrissy revealed in her second cookbook, Cravings: Hungry for More. “Starting to cook again really helped me get back on my feet and get back into normal life.”

Cooking is one of Chrissy’s favorite hobbies, which doesn’t come as much of a surprise since the brunette beauty has released two bestselling cookbooks.
