This is getting messy. According to a new report, Janet Jackson is seeking custody of her eight-month-old baby son, Eissa, following her divorce from husband Wissam Al Mana — and she’s getting her family involved to help make it happen.
On Tuesday, Sept. 12, Janet’s brother Randy Jackson claimed Wissam verbally abused Janet during their four-year-long marriage. Many think this was to build her case to get full custody of the former couple’s little boy. “It was quite an abusive situation,” Randy told People. “It came on later in the relationship, verbal abuse and being [made to feel like] a prisoner in her own home. No pregnant woman needs to go through being called a b***h every day. There were things like that. That’s what she went through.”
A source opened up to Entertainment Tonight about Randy’s claims. “That [news of] verbal abuse allegations months after their separation and impending divorce are shocking, but not surprising. Janet is great at managing her business and career, but she is not as smart when it comes to affairs of the heart.” The insider added, “Janet likes to keep her personal life private. Her brother Randy feels like it is his job to protect his family and he could not take seeing his baby sister in emotional pain.”
Janet and Wissam — who tied the knot in 2012 — welcomed Eissa in January and divorced three months later in April. The notoriously private star took to Instagram to address her fans shortly after the duo’s highly-publicized split. “I just want to keep it real with you guys for a second,” she shared. “Yes, I separated from my husband. We are in court and the rest is in God’s hands.” We wish them both the best during this difficult time.
