Katie Couric’s Daughter Ellie Is Engaged — Find Out the Very Special Meaning Behind Her Ring!

Katie Couric revealed via Instagram on Monday, February 11 that her 27-year-old daughter, Ellie, is engaged. “OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG — Ellie and Mark are engaged!” the former Today show star, 62, gushed in the caption of a photo of Ellie and her new fiancé.

Ellie’s gorgeous engagement ring from Mark is the ring that Ellie and her sister Caroline’s late dad, Jay Monahan, gave to Katie when he proposed back in the 1980s. The two tied the knot in 1989 and were happily married until Jay tragically died from colon cancer in 1998.

In 2014, Katie tied the knot with John Molner and they’ve been loving married life ever since! So how do Mr. and Mrs. Molner keep feeling like newlyweds more than four years after they wed? They keep taking honeymoons! “He plans a date vacation every year,” Katie told Us Weekly this past November. At the time, the duo had just returned from a romantic trip to India. “We go someplace fun and exotic. This year, I had no idea [where we were going],” Katie said. “He planned everything! Can’t get much better than that, right?”

Not only is John, 55, an excellent travel companion, but he’s also “got this incredibly dry and wry sense of humor,” Katie once gushed to People. “He’s just fun to be around,” she sweetly added.

Katie and John just can’t seem to get enough of each other. “They really enjoy each other’s company, and Katie loves having a partner to come home to and have date nights with,” an insider previously told Closer Weekly about the couple’s relationship. “Katie and John are so happy!” With how happy Katie has been, we imagine she has tons of marriage advice for her daughter, Ellie now that she’s engaged.
