Larry King Is in ‘Good Spirits’ Following Hospitalization for Angioplasty

After news broke that Larry King was reportedly hospitalized last week after going into cardiac arrest following an alleged heart attack, a rep confirmed in a statement that the longtime TV host “is in good spirits” after experiencing angina — a type of chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart.

“On the morning of Thursday, April 23, Larry King was scheduled for an angioplasty. Before his scheduled procedure, he experienced angina and went to the hospital early to be examined,” read the statement posted to Larry’s official Twitter page on Monday, April 29. “His doctor successfully performed the angioplasty and inserted stents to reopen the previous bypass from 1987. He has been recuperating in the hospital and is scheduled to be released soon.”

The rep for the 85-year-old — who has had a myriad of health issues throughout his life, including a heart attack in 1987 and a lung cancer diagnosis in 2017 — insisted that there was nothing to get all worked up about. “His doctors expect him to make a full recovery. To be clear, and contrary to published reports, his doctors say he did not have a heart attack and he did not go into cardiac arrest.”

The statement wrapped up, “Larry is in good spirits and thanks everyone for their concern. He’s expected to be back to work on his shows, Larry King Now and PoliticKING with Larry King soon.”
