Mary Ellen Trainor, Actress in ‘Lethal Weapon’ and ‘The Goonies,’ Has Died at Age 62

Mary Ellen Trainor, an actress known for starring in all four Lethal Weapon films and for her role in The Goonies, has sadly died at age 62.

Mary Ellen passed away from complications of pancreatic cancer at her Montecito, Calif., home on Wednesday, May 20, her friend Kathleen Kennedy confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Monday, June 8.

The movie star married director, producer and screenwriter Robert Zemeckis, 63, in 1980 and made her film debut in 1984's Romancing the Stone alongside Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito.

She and her husband — who later divorced in 2000 — then collaborated on projects Back to the Future Part II, Death Becomes Her and Forrest Gump. The former couple had one child together, a son named Alexander.

Mary Ellen also appeared in movies Ghostbusters II, Little Giants, Congo, Moonlight Mile and Freaky Friday throughout her 25-year Hollywood career.

She is survived by her son and his girlfriend, Kat, her mother, Jane, and siblings Ned, Jack, Barbara and Carolyn.
