Happiness looks so good on Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp! The engaged couple were all smiles as they stepped out for a rare public outing on Wednesday, May, 15.

John, 67, and Meg, 57, looked super cozy as they held hands while taking a stroll around the Tribeca neighborhood of New York City, where they both live. Per usual, the two lovebirds kept it low-key as they embraced the beautiful warm weather in the Big Apple.

Their casual outing comes just months after Meg and Ryan — whose off-and-on relationship dates back to 2011 — announced that they were officially getting married. The When Harry Met Sally actress confirmed her engagement to the “Jack and Diane” crooner by sharing the good news in a sweet post on her Instagram. “ENGAGED!” she simply captioned the snap of a pen drawing of the two.

Fans of the beloved Hollywood star could hardly wait before flooding the post with sweet messages. “Congratulations! Marriage rocks because you two do!” gushed one. “Love you guys! So happy for you both,” said another.

It seems like Meg’s Instagram followers weren’t the only ones who were over the moon about their happily ever after. Last month, Meg’s son, Jack Quaid, opened up about the upcoming nuptials. “I couldn’t be happier for both of them,” the 26-year-old gushed to Page Six at an NYC event in April. “It’s amazing.” The Hunger Games actor added that “of course” he’s a fan of John.

The feeling is completely mutual for John’s daughter, Teddi Mellencamp, who admitted to being elated for the two. “I’m thrilled. They are such an amazing couple,” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star exclusively told Closer Weekly at a pre-Grammys party in February. “They are both smart and funny. Their conversations are interesting and like watching a ping-pong match. They really bring out the best in each other — like all good couples do.”
