Melissa Rivers Opens Up About What Went Wrong On ‘Fashion Police’ After Joan Rivers’ Death
Melissa Rivers has a lot on her plate these days.
After the untimely death of her mother and renowned comedian, Joan Rivers, the mother-of-one is busier than ever and trying to get everything back to the way it used to be, including E!'s hit show Fashion Police.
In the latest issue of AARP, the 47-year-old reveals, "We were a family, and when the head of a family passes, it throws everyone into emotional turmoil." (Joan passed away on Sept. 4, 2014 from a cardiac arrest during a throat procedure. She was 81-years-old.)

Most people thought the show returned way too quickly, without giving everyone the proper time to heal. Melissa agrees, she revealing, "We came back too fast."
The show has gone through some seriously rocky times since Joan's passing. The snowball effect started with Giuliana Rancic's comments regarding Zendaya's hairdo at the Oscars (which she said looked like it smelled of patchouli oil), causing an uproar and prompting Kelly Osbourne to quit. In the middle of trying to recover from that controversy, Kathy Griffin fueled the fire by walking out after hosting only seven episodes.
With the show on hiatus until September, E! has already made the first big change by announcing that Melissa will officially join the team as a cohost. Giuliana and Brad Goreski will return as well.

When asked if her mother is watching over her, she laughed, sharing, "If she is, she can keep a little of this f–king chaos at bay! Seriously, if you're supposed to be sitting on my shoulder and making sure everything's OK — chop-chop, get on it! Things are crazy around here!"
