Since they’re about to welcome their first child this spring, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle have been doing everything in their power to make sure their baby will be as comfortable as possible at Kensington Palace. The royal couple have even picked up a few parenting books to learn how to properly take care of their child so they can fully be prepared after they welcome their little bundle of joy.

“They started reading up on this as soon as they found out they were expecting,” a royal insider exclusively told Closer Weekly. “They want to do everything right. Some members of the royal family are skeptical at how the duke, 34 and duchess, 37, intend to defy the usual protocol but they’re determined to do things their way.

Normally members of the royal family would have their nannies take care of the children, but it seems that Harry and Meghan want to be as present as they can be in their baby’s life. “They are going to be even more hands-on than [Prince] William and Kate [Middleton], and that’s saying something!” the source admitted. “They want to build up their children’s self-confidence by letting them speak their minds and gently correcting when they misbehave.”

The Suits alum and her husband don’t want just anyone to be their baby’s royal nanny either! Although they were thinking about hiring Kate, 37 and William‘s, 36, highly trained nanny, Maria Borrallo, the Duchess of Sussex has already decided that her mom, Doria Ragland, will look after the baby.

Doria’s going to be her child’s nanny,” another palace insider recently told Closer Weekly. “The royals were insistent that she hire someone with international credentials and highly trained in security and self-defense [like Maria], but Meghan was having none of it.” Looks like Meghan and Harry are shaking up tradition at Kensington Palace!
