At age 65, actress Sigourney Weaver is still holding her own in Hollywood.

With over sixty film roles — including blockbusters such as 'Ghostbusters,' 'Alien,' 'Working Girl,' and 'Avatar,' just to name a few — and three Academy Award nominations to her name, Sigourney is still snatching up key roles in the industry along with her counterparts Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren.

"I think one of the reasons the roles are coming to us is because, with someone like Meryl, people can count on her to turn in these amazing performances that [moviegoers] will go out to see. Writers are writing stories with good women’s parts because women are a part of our world. We’re much more integrated than we used to be," she said of her continued success in a new interview with 'Gotham' magazine.

One of the actress' most notable accolades is being heralded as a feminist icon, thanks to her role as Ellen Ripley in the 'Alien' franchise. But, she reveals, her daughter, Charlotte Simpson, was apparently not always so impressed with her mother's help in challenging gender norms in Hollywood.

"I don’t think she even saw it until she was in college. I remember a reporter asking her when she was about 6, 'Are you aware that your mother is a feminist icon?' And Charlotte said, 'That goes into the little box of things I don’t need to know.' What is great about having kids is that they’re so unimpressed by our business," Sigourney said.

But, in her newest film, 'Exodus: Gods and Kings,' the actress took on a completely different role as the wife of a pharaoh who dons some especially sexy costumes throughout the biblical tale.

"They certainly are va-va-voom, because they wanted me to be a total sexpot. And it’s a waste, because all my energy is going into my son," she said of her character's disinterest in anything but helping her son take over the pharaoh title.
