Stevie Nicks Gets Real About Body Image at Met Gala 2026: ‘This Life Was Not Easy’

Stevie Nicks is opening up about something deeply personal: her longtime relationship with her body.
At the 2026 Met Gala on Monday, May 4, the legendary Fleetwood Mac singer, who marked her first attendance at the star-studded event, shared a rare and candid reflection to The New York Times, which was published the next day.
Speaking during the cocktail portion of the night, Nicks revealed she has long struggled with body image, especially as she’s aged in the spotlight.
“I just hated actually, over the years, at 5-foot-1½, realizing that there was no way to stay really thin, so you’re not going to be that,” Nicks, who wore a top hat and a dress from Zara by John Galliano, told the outlet.

“To accept it, that’s hard. This life was not easy,” added the “Edge of Seventeen” singer, who later performed at the gala.
Despite those challenges, Nicks, 77, also pointed to the features she does love: her eyes.
This year’s gala centered on the body as both art and expression, and other stars echoed similar sentiments as they reflected on the individuality of their bodies.
Rapper Doja Cat celebrated individuality, saying, “Everybody’s body is a one-of-a-kind,” adding that her “boobies” are her favorite part of her body.
Meanwhile, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson joked about loving his “pecs and glutes,” before admitting that when looking further downward, he doesn’t enjoy the prehistoric sight that greets him.
“I don’t like my toes,” he confided. “They are velociraptor toes.”
