General Hospital started this year with the not-so-shocking reveal that Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) had shot Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) last fall. The ‘Who Shot Drew?’ mystery had been brewing for months when Willow recalled pulling the trigger during her flawless testimony proclaiming her innocence. What happened next was where the real drama began.
General Hospital‘s Willow Does the Unthinkable
After Willow’s performance on the witness stand got her acquitted, she returned home with the husband she shot, allowing him to think they would resume their life together. Then, she wrapped her arms around him from behind and quickly stuck a syringe into Drew’s neck, sending him to the floor. The doctors determined that Drew had a stroke, but the audience knew better.
Fans eventually learned that Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) had given Willow a paralytic drug to mimic a stroke. As long as Willow kept up with Drew’s weekly doses, he would be kept “locked in” indefinitely. Willow just wanted to keep Drew in this incapacitated state until she could find blackmail material on him and rid herself of this mistake forever, but letting her mother in on her activities put a crimp in her plan.
Nina Also Does the Unthinkable
That’s where things get complicated, bringing the story to a whole new unresolved level. Nina (Cynthia Watros) is mixed up in some complications of her own doing. When she was supposed to be babysitting Drew and giving him his weekly dose, WSB rivals Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and Jack (Chris McKenna) ended up in an altercation with a gun in Drew and Willow’s living room. To break things up, Nina grabbed the syringe and jabbed Jack, sending him to GH with a stroke.
Now, two relatively healthy men have both had mysterious strokes in the same living room just a few months apart and people are starting to ask questions. That leaves Willow and Nina in quite a bind. They now have to figure out how to keep Drew and Jack “locked in” so they don’t ever says the beans about what really happened to them.
Expect a wild ride to come and more twists on the way, as Sidwell also has a stake in this and may stop at nothing to keep everyone involved quiet.
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC and streams each weeknight on Hulu.
