Joy Behar Is the ‘Most Paranoid’ of All ‘The View’ Cohosts About Catching Coronavirus

TV personality Joy Behar is taking the coronavirus outbreak very seriously. The ABC star has been taking extra precautions on The View and has even decided to take some time off from work to ensure she remains in good health.

“Joy has definitely been the most paranoid of the hosts, refusing to touch or hug anyone on the show even when Whoopi [Goldberg], who had a serious case of pneumonia that almost killed her, still does,” a source exclusively tells Closer Weekly on Friday, March 13.

But can you blame her? After Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, caught COVID-19, many people have been worrying about their health. The executive producers at The View even stopped bringing in a studio audience because they feared someone might catch the virus.

Due to all of the coronavirus concerns, Joy revealed she’ll be staying at home until further notice. “We don’t have an audience anymore. Believe me, the staff here, the exec producers, everybody, has really been doing their due diligence to clean the place up,” she said on the March 13 episode of the talk show. “But I’ve been thinking, maybe at my age — I know I look good, I look fantastic — I don’t look my age, I don’t. And so you really can’t tell how old I am by looking at me, but I am up there. The number, it makes me dizzy!”

Joy added that she decided to take action and “socially distance” herself after she got a text from her 49-year-old daughter, Eve Behar, who was concerned about her health.

“So next week you won’t see me here. I don’t know how it’s going to go, but that’s what I’m thinking,” the TV producer said. “I have to point out, I’m in a higher-risk group because of my age, but I’m perfectly healthy. I’m doing this myself. Luckily, I don’t have to worry about childcare and things like that and also I have enough money to take off some time.”

Joy may be “paranoid,” but she’s right that we should all take extra precautions to stop the spread of coronavirus.
