Tracy Morgan Struggling to Recover From June Car Accident, Says Attorney

It's been nearly six months since Tracy Morgan was involved in a deadly highway car accident, but the actor's recovery from the June crash is still ongoing.

"He's fighting to get better, and if there's a chance for him to be back to the Tracy Morgan he once was, he's going to try to do that," attorney Benedict Morelli said of the comedian's condition in a New Jersey court on Tuesday, Nov. 18. "But we just don't know because of the severity of the injuries that he sustained and the fact that he had such a severe brain injury."

Along with said injury, the former 'Saturday Night Live' star, 46, also suffered a broken leg, nose and ribs in the New Jersey Turnpike crash that claimed the life of his friend, James "Jimmy Mack" McNair, and seriously injured two others on June 7.

"When you have a traumatic brain injury, it takes a very long time to find out how you're going to do and how much you're going to recover," Morelli told 'People.' "You just don't know. So that's where he is. He's still fighting and trying to live his life at the same time and trying to get better, and he's just not better. We're hoping and praying to get him back to where he was. But the jury's out."

Following the accident — in which a Walmart truck slammed into the limo van that was carrying Tracy and his friends — the '30 Rock' actor spent several weeks in the hospital and a rehab facility.

A new 'FX' Network series starring the funnyman was set to begin filming in August, but the show has since been put on hold as Tracy continues to recover from his debilitating injuries.
