We’re so glad you’re back, Wendy Williams! The 54-year-old star returned to her hit daytime talk show The Wendy Williams Show on Monday, March 4 after a two-month hiatus and, upon her return, she gave her fans a major update on her health.

“Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect when I hit the block today,” Wendy began at her program’s start. “What had happened was we were only supposed to be off two weeks for Christmas vacation. At the end of those weeks, I started to feel thyroid-ish. They adjusted my meds. If you don’t know about thyroid disease, it’s a life long thing and they are always adjusting stuff. It can really screw you over.”

Wendy, who suffers from Graves’ disease, then explained that a change in her medication made her feel worse. “I can’t even tell you how many doctors I have, but I want to shout out each and every one of you. Thank you so much,” she told the audience before adding that her longtime husband, Kevin Hunter, and son, Kevin Hunter Jr., 19, have been by her side during this health setback.

“We’re spending time as a family, the Hunters. You know, I’m Wendy Hunter. I just wanted to take some time for myself. I am my own best friend. You know that, I’ve told you that forever. When you get into yourself, you are your own best friend. So I’m at home, I’m taking my thyroid meds, I am meditating,” she continued. “Oh, believe me you, I’m going to the gym seven days a week for two hours a day … I’m sorry it took me 40 or 50 days. I know it’s been a long time. I’m sorry! I have to say, it’s not going to happen anymore and I feel good!”

Wendy previously left her show on December 21 and, after a scheduled vacation over the holidays, the star extended her absence for two months. In early January, Wendy’s family released a statement explaining that her health was the cause for her unexpectedly long TV hiatus.

“As Wendy Williams Hunter previously shared, she fractured her shoulder and has been on the mend. Over the past few days, Wendy has experienced complications regarding her Graves’ Disease that will require treatment,” the message read. “Wendy will be under the strict supervision of her physicians and, as part of her care, there will be significant time spent in the hospital. Despite her strong desire to return, she is taking a necessary, extended break from her show to focus on her personal and physical wellbeing. Wendy thanks everyone in advance for their well-wishes and for respecting her and The Hunter Family’s privacy during this time.”

We’re so glad you’re back and doing well, Wendy!
