Now that Barbara Walters is 90 years old, many fans are curious about what the TV star has been up to. Sadly, Jenny McCarthy — who cohosted The View alongside the iconic journalist from 2013 to 2014 — recently gave an update that Barbara has been struggling.

“I heard that she’s in a place of not doing great, and I just talked to Sherri Shepherd about it and we’re sending some cards over to her,” the 47-year-old reluctantly shared with Us Weekly ahead of the 2020 Super Bowl. Despite the concerning news regarding the ABC legend, Jenny offered up some hope. “That woman is a juggernaut that’ll just keep going no matter what.”

Fans of the beloved TV personality have been worried sick about her ever since she began slipping out of the spotlight around 2016. In October 2019, news of Barbara’s ailing health made fans even more nervous when TMZ reported the state of her current living situation.

“[She] has been living her life within the confines of her [NYC] apartment, showing significant signs of age, and receiving almost no visitors,” an insider told TMZ at the time. Another source claimed she “has become increasingly forgetful and confused” and won’t leave her place of residence because she’s afraid she will fall and hurt herself.

However, shortly after this news, her rep confirmed to Fox News that Barbara — who suffered a breast cancer scare nearly 10 years ago before undergoing a “lumpectomy” — was reportedly hospitalized after experiencing “heart complications,” which came after open heart surgery in 2010 and a hospitalization after a scary fall in 2013.

Even though she’s been out of the spotlight a in recent years — not including the few public appearances in 2016 — Barbara, who is also the proud mom of 51-year-old daughter Jackie Guber, has amassed one incredible career.

Throughout her decades in showbiz, the How to Talk With Practically Anybody About Practically Anything author has appeared on Today (1962-1976), ABC Evening News (1976-1978), and 20/20 (1979-2004) before announcing her “retirement” in 2014.

She also created the popular talk show The View and still serves as an executive producer of the series. She came out of retirement several times in 2014 and 2015 to appear on 20/20 and ABC News.

In the past, it has been revealed that Barbara wasn’t too happy with The View. “She feels [ABC execs have] ruined the franchise that she and Bill Geddie built. Instead of focusing on smart, educated women with strong talent, they cast uninformed child actors on the show. The legacy has been compromised because of poor casting and bad leadership under ABC News,” a source revealed.

Late last year, Rosie O’Donnell — who found herself on the panel of the ABC show from 2006 to 2007 for season 10 and again in 2014 to 2015 for season 18 — did not hesitate when it came to saying positive words about the program’s legendary creator and executive producer.

“I think she’s a wonderful woman, and it’s hard to age in America, never mind if you’re internationally famous,” Rosie, 57, told Us Weekly. “I’ll always love and respect her and I think she’s a great person.”

We truly do hope to see Barbara again soon!
