Neil is famously known for being the pianist and bandmate in Buffalo Springfield between 1966 and 1968. Although the group’s time together was short-lived, Buffalo Springfield joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

Neil kicked off his solo career and later released albums including Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere (1969) and Harvest Moon (1992), to name a few.

As for his relationship with Daryl, the couple have maintained their privacy since their romantic connection started in 2014, leading them to secretly get married in July 2018.

“Neil’s biggest passion in life is the environment. Daryl is the exact same,” an insider told People at the time. “They bonded over their activism.”

The couple confirmed their marriage three months later when Neil referred to Daryl as his wife in a video, per People.

Daryl and Neil’s relationship became public knowledge in September 2014 when they were spotted at a romantic dinner in Westlake, California.

The spotting was eye-catching at the time, because the Canadian songwriter filed for divorce from late second wife Pegi Young two months prior after 36 years of marriage. Neil and Pegi welcomed kids Ben Young and Amber Young during their relationship.

Neil tied the knot with his first wife, Susan Acevedo, in December 1968 and divorced in October 1970. Two years later, Neil welcomed his eldest child, son Zeke, with former partner Carrie Snodgress.

Once Neil moved on with Daryl following his divorce from Pegi, people questioned the timeline of their relationship.

“They’ve taken no effort to even hide it. He recorded a new album a few weeks ago, and she was on Skype the entire time, giving him feedback on every take,” a source told People in September 2016. “He even told people in the studio she was his ‘girlfriend.’”

The couple remained quiet about the details of their relationship. However, in a rare interview about Daryl, Neil admitted that he didn’t understand the uproar regarding their bond and relationship.

“When we got together, even some of my good friends were negative about it, and I could never understand it,” the “Heart of Gold” singer told Yahoo! Entertainment in 2018. “[Daryl is] a wonderful human being, and I’m very lucky to know her. That’s all I was thinking.”

Like the rest of the world, the couple got closer than ever during lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. The pair made the most out of their sheltered “downtime” and took advantage of their free schedule.

“We could put aside time for each other and do things together, but she’s very creative and she has a lot to do, too,” Neil told Rolling Stone in December 2021. “So, we just do these things.”

In 2018, Neil starred in the musical film Paradox, which Daryl directed. Three years later, Daryl directed Neil’s documentary, Barn, which paired with the album of the same title.

“She’s just a natural. She’s wanted to do films since she was old enough to wear sneakers,” Neil gushed of Daryl’s work. “I mean, she just loves it. She’s incredibly talented and connected. She gets moved by the music and gets really involved.”
