‘Young and the Restless’ Star Opens Up About Finding Hope After ‘Decades of Pain’
‘Y&R’ star Courtney Hope reveals her endometriosis, adenomyosis, and PMOS diagnosis, urging women to advocate for themselves and not ignore pain.
The Young and the Restless’ Courtney Hope (Sally Spectra) has broken her silence about a debilitating health issue that caused her years of suffering with no answers. Now that she has answers, she wants to offer hope to others going through the same ordeal.
Courtney Hope Reveals Endometriosis Diagnosis
In a recent post on her Instagram stories, Hope revealed that she underwent surgery in 2024 to repair damage caused by three relatively common health issues that can upend women’s lives.
“Endometriosis, adenomyosis and PMOS are no joke,” Hope wrote in the post, according to She Knows Soaps. “It took me 34 years and multiple gynos to finally get diagnosed with all three by the best, Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi. Now, two years later, I am recovering after my surgery to remove it all.”
Hope, who began her soap career playing Sally on The Bold and the Beautiful, explained that surgeons found multiple lesions on her ovary, as well as a fluid-filled cyst on her fallopian tube, among other issues. The actress urged fans to not ignore pain and symptoms, saying, “Advocate for yourself if you believe you may have endo, adeno, or PMOS! Intense pain, exhaustion, inflammation, cysts, and bleeding aren’t normal.”
Endometriosis is characterized by tissue that grows outside the uterus, while with adenomyosis, the same endometrial tissue grows into the uterus’s muscular wall, according to PelvicRehabilitation.com. PMOS is a metabolic and endocrine syndrome that used to be known as PCOS, per Women’s Health Mag.
In a second Instagram story, Hope later thanked fans for the outpouring of support she received, writing, “To all the who have shared your intimate story and men who have shared their loved one’s stories, thank you for being open about your journey…I’m thankful for the growing research and advocacy to help those living with pain, confusion, and uncertainty for far too long.”
General Hospital currently has a character who suffers from endometriosis and recently underwent surgery as Molly finally chose to advocate for herself. Kate Mansi, who played Molly’s sister and recently left the soap, has also opened up about her own endometriosis journey.
