Morning Joe cohosts Joe and Mika are married. The couple tied the knot at the National Archives in Washington, D.C., in November 2018.

“We wanted it to be really small and simple and not what you expected from Mika and Joe,” she told Vanity Fair about the wedding. “Everything we do is exposed, and everything felt exposed every step of the way, so we want this to be private until it’s over. We wanted to recognize it more quietly and have the people who are most important to us around us. And you know, our show is a cocktail party every morning.”

Mika explained why she and Joe decided it was the perfect venue for their intimate nuptials.

“We did an event there more than a year ago and we were just blown away, seeing all these documents and how we felt seeing them,” the broadcaster told the outlet at the time. “It makes sense now more than ever, given what we stand for as a couple, what we do for a living, and what we’re worried about as a country.”

The outlet reported that the pair “did not send out any formal invitations; they made about 14 phone calls to their family members and close friends, and none of the guests knew where the dinner was until Saturday evening.”

Mika and Joe have been working together on Morning Joe since 2007. The journalist revealed one of the big things she learned about relationships while working with her husband on the show.

“Both of us practice a lot of patience and acceptance, and whether you’re together 24/7 or not, that’s key. Otherwise I’m incredibly blessed and lucky,” Mika told Woman’s World in October 2024. “It’s very hard, and I talk to young women about this, but we have so many opportunities, so please don’t forget the most important one in your life. It can be to have a career and be successful and support your family and yourself. It’s important to do that. But if your dreams are to have a family—and you don’t have to have those dreams—know that it’s okay to be spending a lot of time and effort on a good connection. If this is something that you want, it can be hard to find, but it can happen and you have much more time than you think. And remember to take love seriously.”

Joe’s union with Mika marked his third marriage. The former politician was previously wed to his first wife, Melanie Hinton, from 1986 to 1999. They share two children together, Joey Scarborough and Andrew Scarborough. Joe also shares two kids, Kate Scarborough and Jack Scarborough with his second wife, Susan Waren, to whom he was married from 2001 to 2013.

Mika was married once before to Jim Hoffer from 1993 to 2016. They welcomed two daughters during their marriage, Carlie Hoffer and Emilie Hoffer.
