Christopher Knight has revealed the one Brady Bunch episode he hated filming the most.
During the Friday, February 20, episode of the Morning Mix podcast, the former child star, 68 — who played middle brother Peter Brady on the show, which ran from 1969 to 1974 — revealed he hated when the family had to sing and dance, explaining he has “no talent in that area.”
Specifically, Knight discussed season three’s episode “Dough Re Mi,” in which Peter struggled to sing a song because puberty hit and made his voice crack. At the time, Knight said he thought the writers were pointing out what a bad singing voice he had, which embarrassed him to no end.
“That was the bleakest week of my life,” Knight said. “I’m having to crack my voice, because I think they’re making fun of how bad I am at singing.”

However, he would later learn the plot of the episode wasn’t a commentary on his singing ability.
“The writers had no idea that I couldn’t sing; they just had Peter have [his] voice cracking,” Knight shared. “But I’m thinking they’re now pointing out how bad I am at singing.”
Today, he calls the plot a “pat on the back” for his acting abilities, even if it embarrassed him at the time. However, over the years, he’s had to address whether or not the voice-cracking plot came from his real-life puberty journey, a thought he put to rest in an October 2022 interview with People.
“No, my voice didn’t change for another four, five years — and it changed more gradually than it was depicted in the show,” he said.
