Forevermore: Preserving Precious Memories for the Present and Future

Forevermore

It is an unfortunate reality that life is fleeting, and a loved one may be taken from their family and friends at any time. Though individuals have the opportunity to create connections now, they are not often satisfied with the depth of those bonds in a future without them. The Forevermore app offers users a chance to save their most precious memories and preserve those bonds long after a loved one is gone.

Forevermore’s Inspiration

About two years ago, Michael Curtis’ partner lost her mother; due to the nature of the incident, she was left with only a watch and a single voicemail to remember her. Other than these, she has only memories to hold on to. Curtis realized just how many people must be affected by tragedies such as these, whether they are caused by an accident or a natural passing.

“Life is already tragic,” Curtis stated. “The average person will have at least five close people to them that they will lose in their lifetime… We deserve to have more to remember them by, and that is why we created Forevermore.”

What Is Forevermore?

Fundamentally, Forevermore is envisioned as a platform where family members can share their rich histories, unique insights, and meaningful stories. In this way, succeeding generations could have something more to remember them by. A child might be able to hear their great-grandparent’s voice, to learn what life was like for them; they may be able to hear those of their parents.

“No one can sit here, look me in the eye, and tell me they don’t wish they had more recordings and memories saved of those who they loved that passed,” Curtis continued. “It’s a no-brainer to have something like this.”

A Community of Enduring Bonds

As a platform, Forevermore is the first to build a community of bonds. The app allows an individual to connect with their loved ones to create a social feel when sharing stories and thoughts. This allows something to be recorded once, and become accessible to anyone that a user is connected to, or only specific people.

More foundationally, Forevermore is guided by the Continuing Bonds Theory posited by grief psychologist Dennis Klass. He argues that it is acceptable for one’s bond to persist after someone passes; the idea that one must “detach” from a loved one is an outdated and subjective opinion. Forevermore aspires to maintain these bonds not only for those who grieve, but for those who wish to know someone better.

“We are here to help families connect; but not just for a single moment, for forever,” Curtis said. “Generation after generation getting to know their elders and loved ones, not from stories passed down by other people, but from the people who lived the stories themselves. We will be the bridge.”

What’s Next for Forevermore

Looking to the future, Forevermore hopes to be utilized by millions of families around the world. In doing so, the platform aims to bring them closer together while they are here and provide the opportunity for lasting connections even when they pass. Though loss is an experience that almost everyone shares, Forevermore aspires to help others find a path forward.
