Fans have always been a little confused by the relationship between exes Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, and now, they’re likely even more confused. In a new interview with The Wall Street Journal, the actress shared that her ex-husband still has a room in her home to stay while she’s traveling.

“We are still doing it in our own way,” the 46-year-old explained during the sit-down of her co-parenting with the Coldplay frontman. The former pair was married from 2003 until their “consciously uncoupling” in 2014, and they share two kids together, Apple 14, and Moses, 12.

While Chris is now happily dating actress Dakota Johnson (his kids reportedly love her!), Gwyneth married Brad Falchuck in September and is now also a stepmother to his two kids, Brody and Isabella, with his ex-wife, Suzanne Bukinik. “With teenage kids, you’ve got to tread lightly. It’s pretty intense, the teenage thing. I’ve never been a stepmother before. I don’t know how to do it,” Gwyn admitted.

Fortunately, everyone gets along so well even though you’d think there’d be awkwardness. “Gwyneth and Chris have the modern family thing down pat and continue to vacation and spend family time together. Especially on holidays, Gwyneth wants nothing more than to be one big happy family and for her kids to be able to celebrate with both of their parents,” a source revealed to E! News. “She is very happy she and Chris have been able to make this work so well… It’s very special that they’re all able to come together like this and make it work.”

But don’t worry, Brad has nothing to worry about. In a previous interview, Gwyn assured fans Chris is “really like my brother, we’re very familiar. It’s nice, it’s great.” And she seems way more confident in her marriage to Brad. “It’s fantastic,” she told the WSJ of married life with the writer and producer. “I feel like we are probably better equipped to choose our life partner when we are halfway through life.”
