Jerry O’Connell Reveals the Funny Secret to His 11-Year Marriage to Rebecca Romijn: ‘Have Twins!’ (Exclusive)

Want some advice on how to stay happily married while working closely with your spouse? Just ask Jerry O’Connell and Rebecca Romijn! “Have twins, and as they get older and become more diabolical, you can’t get divorced!” Jerry, 45, exclusively joked to Closer Weekly at Hallmark’s TCA Winter Press Tour gala on February 9 in Pasadena, California.

He was referencing their 10-year-old girls, Charlie and Dolly, but … how exactly does that work? “Because then one of you will be stuck with them,” Rebecca, 46, quipped. “So you decide to stay together so one of you doesn’t end up with them!”

All joking aside, Jerry admits he and Rebecca — who have been married 11 years — “have a lot of fun” and love spending time with their kids and dogs. “They just bring everyone so much joy,” Jerry, who recently cohosted the 2019 American Rescue Dog Show on Hallmark Channel with Rebecca, said.

But no matter how much joy Charlie and Dolly give their parents, Rebecca already has her mind made up about buying her kids cellphones. “That’s not happening for as long as I can possibly go,” she previously told Us Weekly. “I’ve been told that grades suffer when kids get phones, so they’ll be 20 before I get them a phone! My kids are nagging me about it because a lot of their friends already have them … [Those parents] are ruining it for the rest of us.”

Rebecca and Jerry have such a “crazy” household that they can’t see themselves getting divorced at all. “Our house is so crazy that we just don’t want to get divorced right now because neither one of us wants to end up with our kids and our dogs,” Jerry previously joked to Closer Weekly. “We realize it’s a team effort and there’s no way we can do it on our own right now!”
