It sounds like fans of the beloved TV show Frasier finally have a reason to be excited! Back in July 2018, reports surfaced that the beloved sitcom would be returning with a reboot. However, the cast stayed tight-lipped about the project until August of last year when star Kelsey Grammer told reporters they were waiting for “a pitch that hits it out of the park.”

And now, in a new interview with Us Weekly, the 63-year-old revealed that they may have received the pitch they were waiting for. “We actually are talking to a few writers and discussing the options and where we might think it would be appropriate to put it. So there’s some movement; we’ll see what happens,” the Golden Globe winner told the outlet at Steven Tyler’s Grammy Awards Viewing Party to benefit Janie’s Fund on Sunday, February 10.

The actor, who has had his hands full while filming Fox’s upcoming legal drama Proven Innocent, admitted that he’s actually glad things are being taken at a slow pace. “I just want to make sure it’s really good,” he said, adding that fans should expect a “third act” of sorts. How exciting!

He even dished a quick detail about which stars Frasier fans might be able to see back on the small screen in a reboot. “Some of the folks — probably most of the folks who were on the original show — would be back, but we’re someplace else. Something has happened. We’re not going to pick up where we left off,” Kelsey said.

Since Kelsey revealed that the timeline of the show will be out of sorts, we can only wonder what Dr. Frasier Crane’s life could be like today. On the series finale, which aired in May 2004, Frasier — played by Kelsey — moved to Chicago with his girlfriend Charlotte, who was played by actress Laura Linney. The finale was a huge cliffhanger for fans who saw Frasier choose love over taking a step to further his career.

First started as a spinoff of Cheers, Frasier aired for 11 seasons on NBC from 1993 to 2004. In addition to Kelsey, the show also starred Jane Leeves, David Hyde Pierce, Peri Gilpin and the late John Mahoney. During its run, the sitcom won 37 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series for five consecutive years. We can’t wait to hear more details about the Frasier reboot as the project moves forward!
