The Young and the Restless: Abby Newman‘s (Melissa Ordway) life was left in danger during the characters’ crossover to Beyond the Gates as a chandelier was set to crush the character as Thursday’s episode came to a close. Friday’s episode picked up right where the drama left off, and Abby’s fate was revealed.

As the chandelier was about to fall, Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) noticed and shouted out, giving Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom) enough time to react on instinct, pushing Abby out of the way and saving her life.
Abby is checked on by Shanice Johnson (Ernastine Morison Johnson) and given the all clear.
Later in the episode, Abby thanks Martin (Brandon Claybon) and the family for inviting them to Fairmont Crest, and invites the family and friends to come visit Genoa City one day, which they agree to.

Fans immediately took to social media to share their thoughts and opinions on the developments.
One user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Joey has saved Abby Newman’s life. That’s a good way to get some powerful people in your debt.”
Some fans also pointed out the irony of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) leaving the event and making it back to Genoa City, while leaving his daughter behind to fend for herself amid the life-threatening weather. “Victor really dipped and left Abby behind 😭😂,” wrote one user.
Over on BlueSky, one user followed up on this train of thought and added how when Victor called Genoa City it wasn’t to check in on them, but rather to give news about himself, writing, “Victor didn’t give no damns about Abby, Devon, or the Abbots! Note: he didn’t call to see if any of them were ok. He called to let them know HE was ok!😂.”
