Legendary Singer-Songwriter Neil Sedaka Reportedly Rushed to Hospital in an Ambulance

Legendary singer-songwriter Neil Sedaka has been rushed to the hospital after feeling ill with an unspecified ailment.

Sources close to Sedaka’s family told TMZ, which first reported the news, that he was feeling ill on the morning of Friday, February 27, and was taken to a hospital in Los Angeles in an ambulance. He is reportedly still there recovering. No details have been given as to what caused the singer to feel sick and require medical intervention.

The Los Angeles County West Hollywood sheriff’s station told the outlet that its deputies assisted the fire department and paramedics on a “medical request” call around 8 a.m. PST on February 27.

Sedaka, 83, is best known for his No. 1 hits throughout the 1960s, including “Calendar Girl” and “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do.” In 1959 and 1977, he was nominated for a total of five Grammy awards and was subsequently inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1983.

He’s appeared on TV with cameos in King of Queens and The Carol Burnett Show, and he also acted as a guest judge in the second season of American Idol.

He married Leba Strassberg in 1962, and the pair share two adult children: Daughter Dara, a 62-year-old vocalist, and son Marc, a 59-year-old screenwriter. Sedaka is also a grandfather to grandson Michael and twin granddaughters Charlotte and Amanda.
