Mark Hamill Pays Tribute To His ‘Star Wars’ Co-Star Carrie Fisher On 2-Year Anniversary Of Her Death
On Thursday, Dec. 27, plenty of tributes poured in for actress Carrie Fisher, who sadly died on the same day just two years ago and one of them was from her Star Wars co-star, Mark Hamill.
Mark, 67, who, of course, played the iconic character Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars films, took to Twitter to share some kind words about Carrie, who passed at the age of 60 after suffering cardiac arrest. Mark tweeted, “It makes me so happy to know how overwhelmed and touched she would be by the worldwide outpouring of love and affection for her today.” What made this tweet even more wonderful is that it included a drawing of Carrie holding her beloved French Bulldog Gary.

Mark also added a few hashtags to his tweet, including #CarrieOnForever and #AlwaysWithUs. Mark and Carrie became known worldwide when they previously starred in five Star Wars films, with Carrie playing Princess Leia. But Mark wasn’t the only person close to Carrie to share something lovely for her on her death anniversary, as her daughter, Billie Lourd, also posted a heartwarming video of herself playing a musical tribute to her late mom.
Mark and Carrie became very close over the years, and in 2017, Mark recalled a time when he and Carrie found themselves making out while on the Star Wars set. “I remember one time — I’m sure alcohol was involved — we were talking about kissing techniques. I said, ‘Well, I think I’m a fairly good kisser. I like to let the women come to me rather than be aggressive,’” Mark told The Guardian. “And she said, ‘What do you mean?’ Well, next thing you know we’re making out like teenagers!” Mark added that the two were “really attracted to each other!”

“The one thing that drew Carrie and me back from the precipice was we kind of became aware of what we were doing and just burst out laughing. Which was unfortunate for me because the rocket launch sequence had been initiated,” Mark joked.
Carrie may be gone, but she will still make an appearance in next year’s Star Wars: Episode IX. The late actress will return all thanks to some unused footage shot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Rest in peace, Carrie, you’re dearly missed.
