More than 30 years after he sang Disney classics “A Whole New World” and “Beauty and the Beast,” Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Peabo Bryson continues to hold a special place in fans’ hearts. All of these years later, Bryson’s songs continue to be treasured not only for the events they accompany in Disney movies, but also for the memories they helped create in the real world. The songs spark memories of family nights, school talent shows, weddings, and road trips that have lasted for decades.

Across social media and Reddit, listeners regularly swoon over Bryson’s talent. In one thread in the R&B subreddit, several fans noted “A Whole New World” was their favorite song of his.

“His soaring, clear voice was perfect for Disney,” added another Reddit user.

“I never cease to get chills listening to this song. It’s also bittersweet, it makes me realize how much time has passed,” read one comment regarding “A Whole New World.”

One Redditor wrote that “A Whole New World” was part of what made Aladdin her favorite Disney movie.

“It’s something about their harmony that takes the in-movie version to a different place. This was going to be mine and my current husband’s first dance at our canceled 2020 wedding,” she explained.

Someone else wrote, “I honestly don’t think Peabo got the flowers he so rightly deserves with his amazing voice. But for those that know and understand his talented contribution to the world of music, knows he is one of the greats!”

More than three decades later, Bryson’s biggest songs continue to resonate with listeners. Whether they remember watching Aladdin as children, dancing to one of his romantic ballads, or hearing his music at a wedding, fans say his voice remains tied to some of life’s most meaningful memories.
