Dustin Hoffman and His Wife Lisa Have Been Married for 37 Years — Find out Their Secret!
Their love stands the test of time! Actor Dustin Hoffman and his wife Lisa Hoffman have one of the longest-running marriages in Hollywood at the moment — which is definitely something to celebrate! The couple has been married for nearly 37 years and Lisa dished about their love exclusively with Closer.
“I say in Hollywood it is like dog years, so you have to multiply that by seven,” the 62-year-old joked about her union. She said that now, nearly two decades after saying “I Do,” she and Dustin “are more in love” today and their affection for each other “continues to grow.”
Lisa and Dustin, 79, have known each other for nearly a lifetime because his mother was friends with her grandmother. But they didn’t meet until they both attended a family barbecue when Dennis was 27 — and Lisa was only 10 at the time. At the barbecue, Lisa said that Dustin spent most of his time hanging around her and her younger brother, who was eight years old at the time. She fondly reflected on that moment and said that was when she knew that he would be her husband one day.
“Dustin was telling us jokes, playing the piano and encouraging me to dance around the living room,” she explained in a 2007 interview with Daily Mail Online. “After we got together, my grandmother reminded me that later that day I had said, ‘I hope he waits for me because I want to marry him.'”
They would meet again at Lisa’s grandfather’s funeral — when she was 22 and Dustin was 38, fresh off the heels of a divorce from his first wife. After they reconnected, they went on their first date — and the rest is history.
Now Lisa is dishing about their secret for remaining married and in love after all these years. “We work hard at it,” she tells Closer. “I knew I was going to end up with Dusty, and that my life would be traveling around with him.”
