What an invite! Newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly gearing up for a summer vacation with Queen Elizabeth at the monarch’s famed Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attend Harry’s childhood friend Charlie Van Straubenzee’s wedding in Surrey, England on Saturday, Aug. 4— the event is taking place on Meghan’s 37th birthday! — they will allegedly travel to Aberdeenshire, Scotland to spend a few days at the Queen’s summer home, according to People

Meghan’s upcoming visit to Balmoral is thought to be her very first. The royal family castle — which was privately purchased by Queen Victoria‘s husband Prince Albert in 1852 — is a beloved summer getaway for members of the British monarchy. During visits, the Queen, Prince Philip, and their brood enjoy picnics, long walks, and hunting outings.

Each year, Queen Elizabeth leaves Buckingham Palace for Balmoral — known as her favorite royal residence! — and stays at the Scottish castle from the end of July through October. During that time, many royal family members visit to spend time with the Queen and Prince Philip. Perhaps Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will spend their Balmoral days with Meghan and Harry this year!

In the ITV documentary The Queen at Ninety, Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter Princess Eugenie perfectly summed up the royal family’s Balmoral experience. “Walks, picnics, dogs — a lot of dogs, there’s always dogs — and people coming in and out all the time,” she shared.

“It’s a lovely base for Granny and Grandpa, for us to come and see them up there; where you just have room to breathe and run. It’s the most beautiful place on earth. I think Granny is the most happy there. I think she really, really loves the Highlands,” Eugenie added. We’re sure Meghan will have a wonderful time visiting Balmoral with the royals this summer!
