“Every morning, the Queen would listen to the Terry Wogan show on Radio 2. When the song ‘Dancing Queen’ came on, she loved it, and both of us would dance,” Kelly said in an interview with the outlet published on March 30. “The Queen would move from side to side and sing. Her Majesty loved singing and had a good voice. I didn’t.”
“I’d get carried away and be dancing all round her like I was at a disco, and the Queen would tell me to ‘move over’ because I can’t sing, and we laughed,” she continued.
Kelly described those moments with Elizabeth — who died at the age of 96 on September 8, 2022 — as ones to “cherish” and thought it was wonderful to see the queen “so relaxed.”

Kelly worked for the queen from 1994 until her death, and was the one behind Elizabeth’s revamped wardrobe in later years.
“I told her, ‘Your Majesty, you have good legs. Let’s show them off,’” Kelly recalled. “Needless to say, the hems on the clothes were raised.”
She also added that the monarch “loved seeing the clothes being made from the beginning to the end” and “seeing the material.”
“She liked the pastel and deep colors, but she preferred people to focus on her speeches rather than her clothes,” Kelly explained. “Though she was not fashion-led, she still knew she had to look the part.”
