Robert De Niro Makes Adorable Confession About Parenting Baby No. 7 Gia With Girlfriend Tiffany Chen
Robert De Niro has been soaking in his first year of parenthood with his toddler, Gia Virginia Chen De Niro, and made the most adorable confession about how parenting Gia led him to find his new go-to tv shows.
“Now I watch, with my little girl, The Wiggles and Ms. Rachel,” Robert, 81, said during the Thursday, February 20, episode of “The Scott Mills Breakfast Show” podcast. “I didn’t know of them until I started seeing them, and my daughter loves to watch them – but they’re great!”
Gia, 22 months, is the Meet the Parents actor’s seventh child, his first with girlfriend Tiffany Chen.
Robert is also the father of children Drena De Niro, 53, Raphael De Niro, 48, Julian De Niro, 29, Aaron De Niro, 29, Elliot De Niro, 26, and Helen De Niro from previous relationships.
In May 2023, the Hollywood legend shocked fans when he casually revealed that he fathered a seventh child the month prior, while promoting the film About My Father.
“I’m OK with it. I’m good with it,” Robert admitted to Extra at the time, admitting that parenthood “never gets easier.”
The Jackie Brown actor echoed the same sentiment to The Guardian that five months later, while explaining his parenting dynamic with Tiffany, 45.
“It is what it is. It’s OK. I mean, I don’t do the heavy lifting. I’m there, I support my girlfriend. But she does the work. And we have help, which is so important,” Robert told the outlet in October 2023.
He later added, “With a baby, it’s different [than] with my 11-year-old. My adult children. My grandchildren. It’s all different.”
In January 2024, the Casino star opened up about raising Gia and had nothing but doting things to say about his family.
“It feels great,” he told AARP during an interview that ran in the magazine’s February/March 2024 issue. “Everything that I’m consumed with or worried about just goes away when I look at her. It’s wondrous.”
The following month, Robert gave fans an update about the growing tot and couldn’t help but gush over how “adorable” she is.
“So sweet,” the Meet the Fockers actor told People of Gia in a story published on February 7, 2024. “[When I] look at her, everything else goes away. So it’s a great joy and relief to just be with her in the moment.”
That said, Robert isn’t the only person melting in Gia’s presence as his kids and grandchildren have met and fell in love with their new family member.
“The kids all get a big kick out of her,” the Academy award winner told the outlet. “The grandkids even. She’s their aunt — [and] they’re about to be teenagers!”
Gia was surrounded by her family for her first birthday, which Robert detailed in May 2024.
“She had a little cake, it was very nice, sweet,” he told Entertainment Tonight at the time.. “Well, she’s pure joy, there’s nothing about her, there’s no judgment, there’s no anything, she just is what she is and it’s just pure joy for god sakes.”
