What Happened to Chad Duell? ‘General Hospital’ Star Offers a Musical Update
Chad Duell, who played Michael Corinthos on ‘General Hospital’ for 15 years, is releasing his first music single on Spotify after leaving the soap opera in 2025.
For 15 years, Chad Duell brought General Hospital’s Michael Corinthos to life, earning four Daytime Emmy nominations and taking home the gold once in 2015 for Outstanding Supporting Actor. In 2025, Duell made the decision to leave GH and Michael behind to focus on other endeavors, as well as his personal life. Now, the actor has just announced his next unexpected project.
Chad Duell Turns to Music
More than a year after leaving Michael Corinthos behind, Duell is branching out into music and recently announced the release of his very first single in his Instagram stories.
“I’ll make a full post about what I’ve been up to and my music once it goes live next week, but you can pre-save my first single so it goes straight to your Spotify once it drops next week,” the actor wrote, per Soap Opera News, while also adding a link to add the song. You can find the music here.
When Duell first left GH in 2025, he said his life had felt stagnant from being on the soap for so long and that he was looking forward to trying new things.
“This wasn’t an easy decision for me, but it feels like the right time in my life,” Duell said in an Instagram post when he first announced his departure. “I’m beyond grateful to [executive producer] Frank Valentini, the cast, crew and everyone behind the scenes who have been like family to me throughout this amazing journey.”
“I had a very strong complacency for such a long time that my identity was wrapped up in that,” he said on the Daily Drama Podcast, according to People. “Who I was was the show and the characters that I’ve done for so long. It’s gonna be a process kind of unraveling and really seeing who I am.”
Since leaving GH, Duell has focused on life as a dad, raising his son, Dawson, with girlfriend Luana Lucci. He has also appeared in the movie Soldiers of Heaven and the play Yum Yum at Anapolis. Like music, theater was also a change of pace for Duell, who told Digital Journal: “I haven’t done a legit play since I was in high school in Scottsdale, Arizona. This is a freeing, artistic experience that you don’t get from doing film and television.”
