Josh Duhamel is Netflix’s new leading man with the smash hit Ransom Canyon. The romantic western drama has captivated fans’ hearts, and so has the actor’s real-life marriage to his wife, Audra Mari.
Who Is Audra Mari?
Audra is a former beauty queen from Fargo, North Dakota. She placed first runner-up in the Miss USA 2014 pageant. In 2016, she represented the United States at the Miss World pageant where she placed sixth.
In her 20s, Audra focused on her modeling career, posing in the Ocean Drive Swimsuit issue.
“I’m not perfect and I never will be,” she told CBS News in June 2015 of the opportunity. “Everybody has insecurities. Modeling is great because it brings out the positive things about yourself. So no, you don’t need to be perfect, and then it’s important to know they do have Photoshop!”
How Did Josh Duhamel and Audra Mari Meet?
Audra shared how she first met the All My Children alum in March 2019.
“We were introduced by a mutual friend while living in Los Angeles, who knew that we were both from North Dakota,” she told Vogue Australia in September 2022. “We began communicating back and forth while Josh was working with [the African Community and Conservation Foundation]. When he returned to Los Angeles, he invited me over for a barbecue at his house, and the second I walked in, he offered me a Coors Light. The rest is history, really.”
Josh was previously married to his first wife, Fergie, from 2009 to 2019. They share one child together, son Axl, whom they welcomed in 2013.
When Did Josh Duhamel and Audra Mari Get Engaged?
Josh and Audra were first spotted packing on PDA at the Toronto airport in October 2019. They continued to make more public appearances together, holding hands and embracing each other and making sweet comments about one another publicly.
In January 2022, Josh and Audra announced their engagement. “It’s on!! She found a message in a bottle that washed ashore and said YES!! @audramari,” he captioned a post on his Instagram account featuring a photo of the couple standing on a beach.
He later opened up about the proposal in a January 2022 interview with Access.
“I didn’t really know how I was gonna do it until I got there,” he said. “Then that morning, it kinda hit me — I was like, ‘You know what? You guys have any empty bottles around here?’ And I went and talked to the concierge. So we planned it all out — I was gonna walk her down there as this thing was floating up.”
However, he said that when they walked up to the spot, “the bottle wasn’t there.”
“I turned around and made up another story about like, ‘You know what? Let’s play some cornhole.’ [She was like], ‘I’m in heels. I don’t wanna play [cornhole],’” he said, revealing that after the diversion the bottle appeared.
Josh also said that he and Audra bonded over both being from North Dakota.
“She’s a very sweet girl. Very similar interests — we’re from North Dakota, we love lake life. She’s got a cabin not far from mine. We just match. She’s an amazing person,” the Safe Haven actor said.
