Aww! We all have a past and, even though it might not be so pretty at times, Blake Shelton admits his life was completely different before he met girlfriend Gwen Stefani. In fact, he thanks the “Cool” singer for making him into the man he is today.

“I don’t want to remember what I was like before Gwen, actually,” The Voice coach, 43, admitted to Entertainment Tonight.

Before the pair got together, Blake was married to Miranda Lambert from 2011 to 2015, but they never had any kids together. After the divorce, he had to figure out how to move on. While speaking to fellow Voice coach Kelly Clarkson, Blake jokingly said he wasn’t the nicest person to be around back then.

“I’m a little bit of jerk to you still,” he laughed. “But I was a jerk to everybody… Look how nice I am now!”

However, Gwen, 50, benefitted a lot from having Blake in her life too. Without him, she doesn’t know where she would be today.

“Blake saved my life, everybody knows that,” the mother of three shared. “Like, we’re just having the time of our lives, and we never expected that this late in our lives, so we’re just trying to savor every moment together, and just to be back on The Voice as well — not to change the subject — but working together again has been really fun, and I love being here and I love being with him.”

It’s no wonder Blake and Gwen love being on the show. Not only do they get the chance to foster new talent on the program every day, but they also get to work together. That’s how they fell in love in the first place.

“You’re doing 14-hour days, trying to shoot and stuff,” Gwen previously explained to ET about how she fell for the country crooner. “So, I didn’t know him, but you get to know him on the set, because he’s so funny and he’s so lovely, and I was actually — from the outside, he looks so happy and all those things.”

We don’t know what our lives would have been like if Blake and Gwen never found each other!
