Just days after NBC canceled nine shows ahead of the 2026-2027 season, the network has announced four new series it is greenlighting for fall.
According to USA Today, NBC is bringing on two new comedies and two new dramas in the fall. There are some heavy-hitting stars involved, and fans are already buzzing over what’s on the way.
However, the announcement of the new additions comes as some fans are still adjusting to NBC’s 2026-2027 cancellations. Several of the cancellations were daytime shows, including The Kelly Clarkson Show, Access Hollywood, Access Daily, Karamo, and The Steve Wilkos Show.
NBC also canceled Brilliant Minds, Law & Order: Organized Crime, Stumble, and The Hunting Party.
Peter Krause Leads ‘Line of Fire’
One of the new NBC dramas, Line of Fire, stars Six Feet Under, 9-1-1, and Parenthood star Peter Krause. The series focuses on a family filled with law enforcement agents.
NBC teases, “After a seemingly cut-and-dry case turns into a deadly conspiracy, they must use the expertise from a lifetime of protecting politicians to protect one another and bring the killer to justice … even if it means betraying their sworn code.”

The second new drama for NBC is a reboot of The Rockford Files. It stars David Boreanaz, of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Bones, taking on the iconic role of Jim Rockford, previously played by James Garner.
Boreanaz told Variety, “My attitude is ‘I want to make James Garner proud’ while still doing my own take on the character.”
His son Jaden Boreanaz co-stars with him. The beloved actor explained about his son, “It’s his big debut and the first time we’ve worked together.”
The reboot of The Rockford Files will premiere in January 2027.
‘Newlyweds’ Stars Real-Life Lovebirds

On the comedy side, NBC has tapped real-life newlyweds Téa Leoni and Tim Daly to star on the new series, Newlyweds.
Leoni, who previously starred on Madam Secretary, plays a “free-spirited woman” who marries Wings alum Daly, described as a “buttoned-up professor.” The two impulsively wed after a whirlwind courtship.
Jamie Lee Curtis is a recurring guest star on the series, which will air on Friday nights beginning in the fall.

In addition to the four new primetime shows that NBC is bringing on in the new season, the network has also announced several additional series.
NBC will air an all-civilian season of The Traitors on Thursday nights this fall, and TODAY co-host Savannah Guthrie will lead a primetime game show based on the game Wordle.
Other series that are returning for the NBC 2026-2027 season include Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Chicago P.D., Law & Order, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. In addition, NBC has renewed Reba McEntire’sHappy’s Place, St. Denis Medical, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, The Voice, and Destination X.
