Tracker fans wait each week for Sunday night so they can catch up on the latest episode, but with the Oscars happening on March 2, 2025, viewers are curious if there will be a new episode or if it’ll get bumped for one of Hollywood’s biggest nights.

Will There Be a New ‘Tracker’ Episode on Oscars Sunday?

Good news for Tracker fans! The series will air in its regular slot on Sunday with a brand new episode on CBS at 8 p.m. ET. The Oscars will be happening over on ABC so there won’t be any disruption to CBS’s programming.

What Can Fans Expect in the New ‘Tracker’ Episode?

Colter Shaw, played by Justin Hartley, just can’t manage to stay out of trouble, and in this week’s episode he accidentally finds himself in the middle of a war he wants no part of.

“While tracking the son of a prominent New Jersey cupcake chain founder, Colter gets thrust into the middle of a violent mafia war,” read CBS’s press release for the March 2 episode called “Shades of Gray.”

Plus, fans will see the return of actor Michael Rady in the role of Elliott and Chris Lee back in his role of Randy, Bobby’s cousin, whom viewers first met in episode 10 when Bobby was off doing “family stuff.”

As for why Bobby called in Randy to help during his absence, he told Colter, “He wanted to make sure he didn’t leave you hanging.”

Colter pointed out that he “remembered” Randy from “that case where you hacked into the police server.”

“Some of my best work,” Randy replied. “Bobby is dealing with some family stuff but he wanted to make sure he didn’t leave you hanging. And for the record, I am the one who showed him how to jailbreak his phone so you are all good.”

‘Tracker’ Has Already Been Renewed for Season 3

On February 20, 2025, the official Tracker Instagram page announced that the series had already been renewed for season 3.

“Get excited #Trackerbackers – another season of Colter and the gang is in the works!” the caption read beside a photo of Justin in his role as Colter.

Along with the excitement surrounding the renewal, several fans had the same request, and it was to see Jensen Ackles return in the role of Colter’s older brother, Russell Shaw.

“Please tell me we will see the Shaw Brothers together in more episodes. I love seeing them work together! The show reminds me almost of a modern-day Burn Notice!” one fan wrote in the comments section.

Another added, “I’m so happy about this …. Also more chance of seeing Russell again hopefully @jensenackles.”

Jensen first popped up in season 1 and it was revealed that Colter thought that Russell murdered their father, Ashton Shaw. While Russell claimed he wasn’t the killer, the answer about Ashton’s murder is still unanswered.

There hasn’t been any confirmation that Jensen will be back in season 3, but it seems likely as the show continues to explore the mystery behind the Shaw family patriarch’s death.
