Two stars were added to the cast for season 3 – Hilary Swank and Joel McHale.

While no information about their characters is available just yet, Hilary was seen in the season 3 trailer. Her character appears to have suffered some injuries, as blood can be seen on her face and neck. She is also sporting a bandage on her arm in the trailer.

How Did Season 2 of ‘Yellowjackets’ End?

Season 2 of Yellowjackets saw absolute devastation for the girls after Coach Ben Scott set their cabin on fire. In the present day, Misty Quigley’s boyfriend, Walter Tattersall, helped Shauna Sadecki and her husband escape being blamed for Adam Martin’s murder, even though they were guilty. He also killed Kevyn Tan during the master plan.

But perhaps the most devastating part of the season 2 finale was when Misty accidentally killed Natalie Scatorccio with a phenobarbital injection. Misty intended to use the syringe on Lisa, who was trying to save Lottie Matthews.

Juliette Lewis, who played adult Natalie, responded to fan outrage about her character being killed off the show.

“I very much knew. I think I’m good for a series for two seasons. It’s a different kind of work,” she said during a September 2024 interview with Variety. “So what do I want to say? I can’t wait to see the third season. I think the writing team is so phenomenal. They had many storylines that were always to be realized, and so that’s what they’re doing.”

“For me, there’s so much in our industry with series that’s exciting, but in my creative DNA, I like moviemaking,” she added. “It’s something I thoroughly understand with a single director, a finite period of time and knowing beginning, middle and an end. And I really relish those confines.”

But, just because a Yellowjackets characer is “dead” doesn’t mean we won’t see them pop up again in visions, dreams or scenes in the future.

Is Ella Purnell Returning to ‘Yellowjackets’?

Another character who will be returning to the show is Ella Purnell’s Jackie Taylor, who was killed off at the end of season 1. She appeared in Shauna’s visions in season 2 and the same will likely be the case in season 3. Fans got a glimpse of Jackie in the season 3 trailer shared by Showtime.

It looks like she has snow in her hair, and is sitting in a bathroom, likely alluding to the fact that it’s a vision for adult Shauna and it’s not real.

Other things that were confirmed in the trailer were that adult Taissa Turner is still seeing strange apparitions. Coach Ben also seems to be in the cave that he discovered in season 2, but slowly losing his mind.

“Someone wants to kill us,” adult Shauna declares in the trailer.
