Last night's World AIDS Day concert in NYC's Times Square was certainly a star-studded event — but one celebrity in particular was noticeably absent.

Bono, an avid supporter of AIDS awareness, was unfortunately not in attendance as he's still recovering from injuries sustained from a "high energy" bike accident on Sunday, Nov. 16.

Thankfully, the rocker's friends Bruce Springsteen, 65, and Chris Martin, 37, filled in for him by joining his U2 bandmates, Adam Clayton, The Edge and Larry Mullen Jr., onstage for the group's live performance!

"This year is a World Aids Day like no other," Bono, 54, said of the event in a statement published on U2's website. "Today, 13 million people have access to life-saving treatment, up from 300,000 just over 10 years ago. Americans don't know the role they've played in this fight. Tonight's event is to inform them and thank them."

Other celebrity performances at the Dec. 1 concert included country singer Carrie Underwood and rapper Kanye West.

Bono is expected to make a full recovery from his cycling accident injuries after undergoing five hours of reconstructive surgery on his face, arm and shoulder following the incident.
