Jenna Bush Hager and Al Roker Prank-Called Former First Lady Laura Bush on ‘Today’ — and We Can’t Stop Laughing

Get ready to LOL! Jenna Bush Hager had a little bit of fun on the Tuesday, July 25, episode of the Today show when she and co-anchor Al Roker prank-called her mother, former First Lady Laura Bush.

Reliving her adolescence, Jenna, 35 — who was a teenager when her father, George W. Bush, was elected as the 43rd POTUS in 2000 — convinced Al, 62, to do her dirty work for her when they first gave 70-year-old Laura a ring. (Of course, they dialed *67 to conceal their identity — a pro-tip from Jenna.)

“Yes, hi we’re doing a random survey right now, checking out if you refrigerator is running right now,” the weatherman said in an over-exaggerated Southern accent. “Is your refrigerator running, ma’am?”

Rather than humor Al’s silly question, Laura hung up on him — and we seriously can’t blame her. Despite their failed attempt, Al and Jenna gave it one more go. However, this time, the former first daughter did the talking. But it only took seconds before Laura realized it was her kid on the line.

“Jenna, will you quit being so silly,” she said on the phone, to which Al replied, “She made me do that, Mrs. Bush! She made me do that!” The newscaster later admitted that he “never prank-called a first lady before!”

Jenna’s funny moment with her mother comes more than a month after she sent a special message with her own daughters — Margaret, 4, and Poppy, 23 months, whom she shares with husband Henry Hager — during a particularly touching segment on Today.

“To my darling girls, Mila and Poppy, I have never seen anything more beautiful than the two of you. You two will look in the mirror and not always like what you see," the mom-of-two said at the time. "But if Daddy and I do our jobs, you will look in the mirror and always like who you see. So my precious babes, always, always know that just by being authentically you, you are more than enough. I adore you, my beauties. Mom.”
