For the very first time, Carys Douglas is making her magazine cover debut alongside her famous mom, Catherine Zeta-Jones, on Town & Country’s September 2018 issue. And, not only are new photos of the mother-daughter duo beyond stunning, but 15-year-old Carys candidly opened up about her childhood, having famous parents, and being a part of the “Douglas Dynasty.”

“When I was younger I didn’t like the idea of having this name attached, this kind of ‘Douglas Dynasty’ stuff,” Carys told the magazine, referring to the prolific acting careers of both her father, Michael Douglas, and grandfather, Kirk Douglas

“I think what bothers me the most is that people think I don’t work hard for it, that I don’t need to work hard for it. That anything I do gets handed to me. When, honestly, I feel like it’s the opposite. I feel I need to constantly prove myself to people — that I am not just my parents’ daughter,” she continued.

While Carys and her older brother, Dylan Douglas, 17, are no strangers to growing up in the public eye, the teen admitted the constant interest in her famous family has been far from easy.

“I used to get really upset. [The paparazzi] would jump on the subway and sit right in front of me. I was like, six. I was confused. That’s when I knew, ‘If this is going to be what it’s like, I need to focus on who I really am, and this is going to be something that’s just going to happen, and I can’t do anything about it,'” Carys shared.

But, Carys also funnily admitted that she didn’t always realize her dad, Michael, 73, was a Hollywood star. “I thought my dad was a pancake maker,” she said. “I didn’t know he was an actor. Honestly.”

Thankfully, Carys said her parents have done a “really good job” of keeping her and her brother humble. “[They’d tell us], ‘Look around you. The life you have is extraordinary,'” she shared.

As for her mom, Catherine, 48, the actress couldn’t be more proud of the young woman her daughter is growing into. “What I instilled in my kids, and I’m very, very proud of it, is manners. There’s nothing worse than a privileged kid without manners. I drilled it into them like boot camp. The teenage years… She knows she cannot roll her eyes at me, or huff and puff around me. I never did it to my mother, and she’s not doing it to me,” she shared.
