Will There Be a Spinoff of The Equalizer? Updates on Series Expansion
“Taken” – After a little boy disappears from a mall, McCall and the team track down the missing child. Meanwhile, Aunt Vi and Captain Curtis clear the air about what happened during their ride along, on the CBS Original series THE EQUALIZER, Sunday, March 9 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs). It’s been quite a successful 2024-2025 TV season for CBS, with scripted shows that have continued to garner impressive ratings on the network. However, fans are wondering about the future of The Equalizer and whether or not there will be a spinoff after much chatter online.

Will There Be a Spinoff of ‘The Equalizer’?

Sadly, a spinoff of The Equalizer will not be moving forward at CBS. The idea for the show’s spinoff has been axed, Variety confirmed.

Initially, it was reported by multiple outlets in January 2025 that Titus Welliver and Juani Feliz were set to star in a spinoff of the series.

They both appeared in an episode of The Equalizer in April 2025 in season 5 titled “Sins of the Father.” Their characters were first introduced to the audience and at the end of the episode, there was a hint that their story would continue in Atlanta.

Titus’ character was “a former top CIA operative with a dark secret who is connected to Robyn McCall (Queen Latifah) by an old mentor.” Juani’s character was “trained by her father to be a weapons expert, skilled martial artist and true chameleon all while hiding a mysterious past.”

Deadline reported that the episode was not supposed to serve as a backdoor pilot for the now defunct spinoff, but rather as a way for the franchise to introduce “potential lead offshoot characters in storylines integrated into regular episodes of the mothership series.”

The outlet pointed out that this same strategy was used with Morena Baccarin for her role on Fire Country, who will now lead her own offshoot series called Sheriff Country.

Additionally, Blue Bloods will be moving ahead with an offshoot scheduled to air in fall 2025 with series favorite Donnie Wahlberg leading the charge.

“Sins of the Father” – McCall is contacted by Samantha Reed, whose father, ex-CIA agent Elijah Reed, is missing. While Samantha joins forces with the Equalizer team to track down the agency legend, she learns more about her family’s past in the Dominican Republic, on the CBS Original series THE EQUALIZER, Sunday, April 20 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs). Will There Be Another Season of ‘The Equalizer’?

So far, there has been no word on whether or not CBS will be renewing The Equalizer for season 6. It is the only scripted show on the network as of April 2025 that has not received its renewal or cancellation on the network.

Fans have taken to social media to beg the network to let the Queen Latifah-led show continue with another season.

“Absolutely Love this show! Please please keep this show going. Are you ever going to let Dante and Robin have a relationship!” one person wrote in a comment on the show’s Instagram account.

“Renewal updates please. This is a great show about accountability community and family. We need at least 3 more seasons,” another person said.

“I really hope this isn’t the end of the show, you guys are surely closing out storylines, I know its just in case, #Equalizer, Please,” a third person wrote in an Instagram comment.

“CBS been doing this show and its fans dirty. Stop stringing us along and let us know once and for all if there will be a season 6. I’m about to stop watching this network all together. @cbs @paramountplus #RENEWTHEEQUALIZER!!!!!!” another person begged.

“Please let there be a season 6,” said another fan.
