‘General Hospital’s’ Kayden Brenna Tokarski Takes You Inside Her First Day as Teen Scout
‘General Hospital’ newcomer Kayden Brenna Tokarski debuts as Scout, playing Sam and Drew’s teenage daughter in dramatic 2026 storylines alongside Katelyn MacMullen and Cameron Mathison.
General Hospital newcomer Kayden Brenna Tokarskimade her debut as ‘NuScout’ on the July 20th episode of the 63-year-old ABC soap, bringing fans a teenage iteration of the character born in 2018. When the summer began, Scout was only 10 years old, but a teenage Scout will be headed back to school in the fall. For Tokarski, landing the role of Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) precocious daughter was a dream come true, as was her first day on the set, thanks to some very special co-stars.
Reel-Life vs Real-Life for Scout’s Parents
If there’s a teenager on soaps who did not luck out in the parent department in 2026, it’s Scout Cain, the daughter of beloved late heroine Sam McCall and her ex-husband Drew, now a smarmy former congressman who has been stuck in a wheelchair since January. Scout’s stepmom, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), is the person who put Drew in that wheelchair by injecting him with a paralytic drug.
Scout has been shuttled between her grandmother, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), and the gruesome scene in her own home for months. On Monday’s episode, Scout proved that she can go toe-to-toe with her Aunt Tracy, as this SORAS’d Scout appears to be a Quartermaine through and through. While Willow and Scout may find themselves at odds more often soon, Tokarski credits MacMullen with getting her through that nerve-wracking first day.

“I was so nervous on day one, so overwhelmed with so many things, and I’m so lucky that Katey is who I was working with,” Tokarski said in an interview with Soap Opera Digest. “She was so wonderful to me. I asked her a million questions and she said, ‘Please, ask me more.'”
The 16-year-old actress heaped high praise on her TV dad as well, calling him “the most positive masculine figures I have ever worked with in my entire career.”
However, it’s MacMullen who made her first day memorable both on-screen and off. “I feel like I owe everything to Katey,” she said. “Everyone here is wonderful, but she was my starting point and she really was a breath of fresh air. I don’t know what I would have done that first day if it wasn’t for her.”
From the looks of things, Scout still has some affection for her unhinged stepmother, but she doesn’t know just quite how crazy she is yet. Will things change when Scout learns what Willow did? Tune in to find out.
